Usher and Chris Brown at MetLife: The R&B Tour's Third Night in East Rutherford

Usher and Chris Brown performing on stage at MetLife Stadium on The R&B Tour

They already sold out two nights at MetLife this summer, and demand was loud enough that they added a third. Usher and Chris Brown bring The R&B Tour back to MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford on Thursday, October 15, and this is the kind of show people will be talking about into the winter.

It is a co-headlined production, not two separate sets — a nearly three-hour show built as nine cinematic acts, with the two trading the spotlight and joining each other on stage. Expect the hits, the choreography, and a supporting cast that has included everyone from 50 Cent to Mary J. Blige on previous nights.

The MetLife Playbook

MetLife is in your backyard — most of Bergen County is 15 to 25 minutes from the Meadowlands — but a stadium show has its own rules. Parking lots open well before doors, and on a night this big, the earlier you arrive, the shorter your walk and the shorter your exit. Buy parking in advance if you can; the lots are cashless and the good ones go first.

Stadium exits are the one thing nobody thinks about until they are sitting in it. After the final song, twenty thousand people head for the same gates. Either leave during the encore — sacrilege — or stay through the last note, take your time, and let the lot drain. You get home the same time either way.

Tailgate or No

If you are going as a group, the tailgate is half the experience. One vehicle with everyone in it is the only way to do it right — you split one parking pass, one cooler, and one driver, and nobody is coordinating three separate cars through stadium traffic. Bring food, bring a chair, and treat the hour before doors as part of the show.

The Car Part

Four or more people going to a stadium show should be in one vehicle, full stop. A three-row means the group of six pays one parking fee instead of two, and the ride home after three hours of singing is a lot more fun with everyone in the same car. If you are the driver, you are a hero. Let them buy your snacks.

One car, one parking pass, one crew. That is the whole stadium play, and it works every time.

Your Ride to the Show

One vehicle, one parking fee, and everyone gets home in the same car. Grab a three-row for the crew, or something electric for the quiet ride home.
