Big 10 Comedy Show in Newark: Top Tri-State Comics, One Easy Night
Lineups matter in comedy. A night with one strong headliner is good; a night with a stacked bill of the best comics from the tri-state area is a different thing altogether. That is the pitch behind the Big 10 Comedy Show, hosted by Gordon Baker-Bone at the Newark Culture Club on Wednesday, October 7.
Baker-Bone is Newark's own — a regular on Don't Tell Comedy and Gotham Comedy Live, and one of the sharper hosts working the area. A showcase like this is also the best value in live entertainment: a dozen different voices and styles in one sitting, and if one set does not land for you, the next one is four minutes away.
The Show
It runs about two hours starting at 8:30 p.m., in person at the Culture Club on Broad Street. Tickets are modest, and it is the kind of room where the comics work new material and the crowd actually listens — which is exactly when live comedy is at its best.

Midweek, So Keep It Easy
Wednesday shows are the ones people skip and then regret. The crowd is smaller, the room is looser, and the comics are sharper because they are trying things out. It is the best night of the week to go, and the fact that it is a school night is the only reason more people do not.
Getting there is a straight shot from Bergen County — down Route 21 or the Turnpike, about 20 to 30 minutes depending on where you start. Because it is midweek, the drive in is calmer than a weekend, which makes the whole thing easier to actually commit to. Street parking and nearby lots in the area are simpler on a Wednesday than they are on a Saturday.
The Car Part
A comedy club is a group activity, and a weeknight is the night you want the logistics to just work. One car means one driver, no train transfers after the last set, and everyone back in Bergen County before it is technically tomorrow. For a midweek city run, a small, efficient car is the right tool — easy to park, cheap to run, and it makes the trip feel like nothing.
Bring a couple of friends who like to laugh, let someone else drive, and turn a Wednesday into something worth talking about Thursday morning.
Your Ride to the Show
One vehicle, one parking fee, and everyone gets home in the same car. Grab a three-row for the crew, or something electric for the quiet ride home.
